Discovering the Amethyst Stone

Amethyst is one of the most well known crystals and can be found all over the world. It has a beautiful violet purple tone. The actual word "Amethyst" means "not intoxicated". The ancient Greeks believed it could prevent intoxication and European soldiers often wore amethyst amulets as protection in battle.

Where the Amethyst Stone is Found

Amethyst is found in many places all over the world, to name a few: Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Zambia, South Korea, Austria, Russia, Canada, Nova Scotia and the United States. Amethyst is the official state gemstone of South Carolina and sever pieces from South Carolina are displayed at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Purple is known as the color of nobility and royalty as it was not an easy color to come by in ancient times. Because of this, Amethyst was known as a wealth and status stone.

Amethyst can be used to improve intellectual and cerebral thought. If you fall victim to brain fog, this stone should be carried at all times. When working in a place where it is hard to concentrate, you can place a piece of Amethyst on your desk or work station or hand one around your neck so that you can focus and do your work accurately with a clear mind.

Amethysts are intellectual problem solver stones. Empaths should always carry this stone so they can intellectually understand what they are feeling emotionally from outside influences. This stone can help enhance physical vitality, especially after treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. It strengthens the adrenal glands, the reproductive organs and the heart.

Healing Practices

Easing Illness and Disease

Find a calm space to relax in. Position yourself in what makes you feel the most comfortable. Use props such as pillows, blankets and anything that makes you feel your most comfortable. Using just a piece of Amethyst, hold it in your hand and close your eyes. Take long deep breaths in and out. All all the pressure, pain or stress in your body to flow out as you release your breath. On every breath in, take in new calming energy. Keep doing the breathing exercise until you feel as calm as possible. Visualize healing energy entering your body through your crown chakra. Observe the energy flowing into your body and flowing over all the areas of illness, pain or disease. Feel the warmth of the healing energy all throughout your body. Visualize the energy correcting your illness from the cellular level. Smile. Feel the love this energy contains. All love from your heart to flow out and join the healing energy as it does it's work. Love your body. Love your energy. Let the two mix and work together to heal you. Take your time and let this process go as long as possible. When you are ready to come out of your practice, send gratitude to your body for doing the work. Send gratitude to the universe. Hold the Amethyst stone close to your heart so the final amounts of love flowing out can cover the stone. Slowly open your eyes and go about your day being grateful.

Emotional Healing

Amethyst can be used for protection and divine connection. In this practice we are going to calm the mind, protect the soul and work on connecting with your higher self to work on emotional healing. In this practice you will need a space that you feel secure in. It would be best that other people are not around if possible. These practices can be very emotionally charged, so you want to be able to feel comfortable with whatever comes out.

Find a comfortable place to sit. It would be best to sit up than lay down if at all possible as this is a longer meditation and you don't want to easily fall asleep. You can use Amethyst one of two ways. If you have a good amount of small pieces, you can create a circle of Amethyst and sit inside the circle. If you only have one or two pieces, then you can hold them in your hands. Close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. When you breath out, let go of all stress that is accumulated in your body. When you breath in, breath in fresh calming energy. Make your breaths intentional. If you still feel a bit tense, repeat this 3 more times. When you feel very calm, clear your mind and keep it clear for 10 seconds. Notice your heart beating. Pay attention to your heart. Visualize protective energy flowing into and around your body starting from the top of your head going down to your toes and into the floor, creating a bubble of protection. In your mind repeat 3 times, "I only allow positive energy and positive entities to help me in my healing".

Now focus on a part of your body that feels the worst. Visualize the pain or suffering as a color. See that color surrounding the area. Take a few minutes to see this in your minds eye.

Now, in your mind, ask your higher self to show you when that pain or suffering of that area first started. Clear your mind and allow it to be shown. If after a few minutes you don't have a vision, do the process over again of focusing on the part of the body, see the color, watch it and ask your higher self again. Eventually, you will tune in to your higher self and will be shown what has caused this pain or suffering.

When you see the vision of what caused this trauma to affect you, just be the observer. Allow yourself to see exactly how it happened, who was involved, why it happened, how you felt, how they felt, just like a movie playing in your mind. All the emotion to come out. It is the emotion coming out that helps heal what happened. When you are at a point where you feel you understand why it happened and you are ready to let it go, release the emotion in any way you can. This can be tears, anger, laughter, anything that allows it to come out of you. Then visual the healing energy of the Amethyst stone surrounding your body.
