Lunar Energy
Lunar energy is the energy that is associated with the moon. The moon is often associated with intuition, emotion, and the feminine aspects of the self.
Many people believe that the energy of the moon can affect our moods, behaviors, and overall well-being. For example, some people believe that the full moon can bring out emotions and behaviors that are normally suppressed, or that the new moon is a time of new beginnings and fresh energy.
There are many different ways in which people may work with lunar energy, such as through meditation, journaling, or engaging in activities that align with the energy of the current moon phase. Some people also use crystals, such as moonstone, to tap into lunar energy.
How Does The Moon Affect Us?
Human and animal physiology are subject to seasonal, lunar, and circadian rhythms. Although the seasonal and circadian rhythms have been fairly well described, little is known about the effects of the lunar cycle on the behavior and physiology of humans and animals. The lunar cycle has an impact on human reproduction, in particular fertility, menstruation, and birth rate. Melatonin levels appear to correlate with the menstrual cycle. Admittance to hospitals and emergency units because of various causes (cardiovascular and acute coronary events, variceal hemorrhage, diarrhea, urinary retention) correlated with moon phases.
What Is A Circadian Rhythm?
Circadian rhythms are physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle. These natural processes respond primarily to light and dark and affect most living things, including animals, plants, and microbes. Chronobiology is the study of circadian rhythms. One example of a light-related circadian rhythm is sleeping at night and being awake during the day. The Average Teen Circadian Cycle image shows the circadian rhythm cycle of a typical teen.
